During this challenging time in the world, many animal rescue centres across the globe are struggling to find the resources they need to survive. As a result, many shelter animals are suffering.
Due to travel restrictions and Covid19 protocol, we have been unable to acquire new volunteers to help at our shelter. On the bright side, some of the volunteers that were with us before lockdown have remained with us. We are so grateful that they have been able to help us when we have needed them the most. We couldn’t ask for a more helpful, kind and generous group of people during these desperate times.
Our current volunteers, Jake and Ellie, have been with us from before the start of the lockdown period. For a period of their stay with us, Fabrizio was forced into quarantine in Cusco hospital while visiting his very ill father. So, we only had the help of the in-house volunteers for several weeks to care for the dogs in the shelter. We don’t know what we would have done without them.
We, like many rescue centres, have received little to no donations as people struggle financially due to the pandemic. Fabrizio funds the centre with the money he earns from his veterinarian practice. Since his clinic earnings have dropped dramatically due to fewer people utilizing veterinarian services these days and Fabrizio unable to spend as much time at his practice, we have seen a significant drop in funds for our rescue centre.
Fortunately, due to Jake and Ellie’s efforts, we have had some funding come through that has helped us get through this tough period so far. They launched a GoFundMe fundraiser that generated the equivalent of 2000 USD! We are so grateful to all the people that contributed to the fundraiser! These funds have helped us pay for food and vet bills that have accumulated during the lockdown period.
Our volunteers have made repairs, improvements and added to the overall aesthetic of the centre. We love all the wall paintings that our very talented and artistic volunteers have contributed. Lidia, a volunteer that was with us until recently, created a beautiful wall painting of our shelter dogs looking out at the sunset. We are thankful to all our volunteers for their help and unique contributions!

Durante este momento difícil en el mundo, muchos centros de rescate de animales en todo el mundo están luchando por encontrar los recursos que necesitan para sobrevivir. Como resultado, muchos animales de refugio están sufriendo.
Debido a las restricciones de viaje y al protocolo Covid19, no hemos podido adquirir nuevos voluntarios para ayudar en nuestro refugio. En el lado positivo, algunos de los voluntarios que estuvieron con nosotros antes del encierro se han quedado con nosotros. Estamos muy agradecidos de que hayan podido ayudarnos cuando más los hemos necesitado. No podríamos pedir un grupo de personas más servicial, amable y generoso durante estos tiempos desesperados.
Nuestros voluntarios actuales, Jake y Ellie, han estado con nosotros desde antes del inicio del período de cierre. Durante un período de su estadía con nosotros, Fabrizio fue forzado a la cuarentena en el hospital de Cusco mientras visitaba a su muy enfermo padre. Entonces, solo tuvimos la ayuda de los voluntarios internos durante varias semanas para cuidar a los perros en el refugio. No sabemos qué habríamos hecho sin ellos.
Nosotros, como muchos centros de rescate, hemos recibido pocas o ninguna donación ya que las personas luchan financieramente debido a la pandemia. Fabrizio financia el centro con el dinero que gana de su práctica veterinaria. Dado que los ingresos de su clínica se han reducido drásticamente debido a que menos personas utilizan servicios veterinarios en estos días y Fabrizio no puede pasar tanto tiempo en su práctica, hemos visto una caída significativa en los fondos para nuestro centro de rescate.
Afortunadamente, debido a los esfuerzos de Jake y Ellie, hemos recibido algunos fondos que nos han ayudado a superar este difícil período hasta ahora. ¡Lanzaron un recaudador de fondos GoFundMe que generó el equivalente a 2000 USD! ¡Estamos muy agradecidos con todas las personas que contribuyeron a la recaudación de fondos! Estos fondos nos han ayudado a pagar las facturas de alimentos y veterinarios que se han acumulado durante el período de cierre.
Nuestros voluntarios han realizado reparaciones, mejoras y agregado a la estética general del centro. Nos encantan todas las pinturas murales que han contribuido nuestros talentosos y artísticos voluntarios. Lidia, una voluntaria que estuvo con nosotros hasta hace poco, creó una hermosa pintura mural de nuestros perros de refugio mirando la puesta de sol. ¡Agradecemos a todos nuestros voluntarios por su ayuda y contribuciones únicas!
